PALEO BOND PRODUCT USES

CONSOLIDANTS (ADHESIVES):

PB002: PENETRANT STABILIZER

Developed to penetrate and stabilize porous and fragile fossil material.  High strength when cured.  Used as a PRIMER for all of the higher viscosity adhesives to achieve maximum bond strength. [PB40, 100, 750, 1500, Jurassic Gel]

PB4417: PRE-PREP FIELD CONSOLIDANT

Designed to solidify and hold together loose, friable soils, rocks and fossil fragments.  Later, in the lab, these fossil parts can be cleaned and carefully reassembled.  Dries rapidly, this is a LOW strength penetrant and stabilizer.

We refer to this as a REVERSIBLE adhesive.  It can be mechanically removed using an air scribe or air abrasive blaster.

PB4418: SPECIALTY ADHESIVE AND FILLER

A special fossil consolidate that was designed to harden powdered or punky soft bone while still in the matrix.  Should be applied to the end of the bone that is already broken or porous for maximum penetration by the consolident.  Designed to set up in approximately 24 hours – to prevent heat damage to fossil (exothermal).

PB40: BONDING ADHESIVE (40cps)

Developed to hold non-porous tight fitting fossils together.  Dries in 2 minutes.

PB100: BONDING ADHESIVE (100cps)

Slightly thicker.  Developed to bond porous fossil pieces together.  Dries in 5 minutes.

PB750: BONDING ADHESIVE (750cps)

Developed to hold VERY porous fossil pieces together.  Dries in 10 minutes.

PB1500: BONDING ADHESIVE (1500cps)

GAP FILLER.  Developed to bond fossil pieces together if they hardly touch.  Dries in 1 hour.

PB4540: JURASSIC GEL (80000cps)

Super GAP FILLER.  Very high strength clear adhesive.  Position parts as you plan to join them with this adhesive.  When you are satisfied, SPRAY with activator PB304 or PB303.  Full cure in several hours.  Can also be used with live coral in aquariums (without using the activator).

PB121: PALEO SCULP

Two part epoxy, clay consistency.  Comes in 1#, 5# or 20# kits.  Buff in color.  Holds great detail.  Used for sculpturing, missing parts and holding pieces together.  Does not sag.  Work life about 5 hours.  Full cure in 24 hours.

PB122: PALEO POXY – 2 oz. roll, pre-portioned.

Epoxy strength.  Used for specimens needing a quick fix; fine grained and smooth surface.

Cut off a piece.  Knead in fingers until all one color.  Apply to fossil.  Shape with fingers or tool.  Smooth with water, if you like.  Work life 25 minutes.  Full cure in 60 minutes.  Then can be sanded or drilled.

NON-ADHESIVE PRODUCTS:

PB400: DEBONDER SOLVENT

Designed to remove adhesive from your fingers.  It also removes cured adhesive from fossils.  Comes in 1oz. or 8oz. containers.

PB505: CURED ADHESIVE REMOVER

Water based, non-flammable, water clean-up.  No odor.  Dissolves all "instant" type of super glues from hands, fossils and clothing.

PB304: AEROSOL ACTIVATOR

Will cause all Paleo Bond adhesives to harden rapidly.

PB303: NON-AEROSOL ACTIVATOR

Will cause all Paleo Bond adhesives to harden rapidly.  Same chemical as PB304 but comes in a pump spray bottle.

THE ACTIVATORS AND THE LARGER BOTTLE OF DEBONDER CAN ONLY BE SHIPPED BY UPS GROUND WITHIN THE US AND PARTS OF CANADA.

WARNING:  The chemistry of the activators WILL often turn some fossils green in color (if the fossil is preserved in clay or sand).  REMOVING the green color can be accomplished by using water based laundry bleach like Hylex (sodium hyperclorite).  Paint on the bleach and allow to sit.  Then wash off with pure water.
