PaleoSCULP™ is a unique two part epoxy material that forms a clay-like substance once mixed together. It can be sculpted into any shape or form. It is ideal for use in replacement of missing fossil or rock parts or for patching damaged bones. After curing, it becomes hard and strong. It is also an excellent structural adhesive.
PaleoSCULP is a two part system, a 1:1 mix ratio. You can make any size batch needed without worrying about wasting material.
PaleoSCULP has a varied cure time, so you are in control of the work life time. No needless hurrying to finish the job before curing.
PaleoSCULP bonds to any substrate material, so it acts as a multipurpose adhesive.
PaleoSCULP has an infinite shelf life. No need to worry about it drying out when stored.
PaleoSCULP will not shrink as it cures. It is dimensionally stable and no reworking is necessary.
PaleoSCULP can be easily sanded or ground once cured.
PaleoSCULP will cure under water, therefore it is waterproof when cured.
PaleoSCULP can be used as a casting medium. It is tough material, but easy to work into a mold, which allows for more versatility.
PaleoSCULP can be formed to create a smooth or textured surface, such as scales. With this material, your talent has no limit!
The work life of the mixed material is two to three hours, depending on the temperature of the clay mixture. If you need the material to cure more quickly, provide a warm environment for the piece. Complete curing of the piece will take 24 hours.
PaleoPOXY™ is a kneadable, non-shrinking epoxy putty.
When fully cured, it becomes an integral part of the item being repaired,
rebuilt or restored. Just one hour after mixing, PaleoPOXY can be drilled sawed, sanded, filed or painted. Color is neutral tan.
It comes in a handy two ounce “Tootsie Roll” form with the curing agent encapsulated in the contrasting color base material. The putty-like consistency eliminates drips and runs, providing “no mess” applications. It’s use requires no tools
After proper mixing, PaleoPOXY™ molds like clay to repair, rebuild or restore fossils. PaleoPOXY contains no solvents and is non-toxic. It will not shrink, pull away or dry out. Sanding of cured PaleoPOXY™ is recommended before painting.
The unused portion of PaleoPOXY™ will remain stable for years if stored in the original container at room temperature, in a cool, dry environment.
In order to achieve optimum adhesion, surfaces should be clean and free of grease and dirt. Scuffing or sanding the surface prior to cleaning helps ensure a good bond.
Cut off the required amount of material to maintain the proper mix. Knead with fingers to a uniform color. If kneading is difficult, warm PaleoPOXY™ to room temperature or slightly above.
Apply to the surface being repaired after mixing. Force gently into any cracks or holes to be filled and strike off excess material. If applying to a damp areas, work the material into the surface and apply pressure until adhesion takes effect. After 15-20 minutes the epoxy will begin to form a tenacious bond. Remove excess material before hardening takes place. For a smoother appearance of the cured PaleoPOXY™, hand rub with water or a damp cloth prior to hardening. You can also rough up the surface to match the face of your specimen before it cures. After just 60 minutes from initial mixing, PaleoPOXY™ can be drilled, sawed, carved, sanded, stained or painted.
